Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Stadium Design
Conceptual Utility Analysis
Based on requirements for construction of a new stadium at Florida Atlantic University’s Main Campus in Boca Raton, Miller Legg developed conceptual requirements for water distribution, sanitary sewer and drainage systems. A preliminary investigation of water and sewer system capacity on campus and within the City of Boca Raton was also performed. Miller Legg reviewed utility infrastructure drawings to indicate possible utility routing and a preliminary cost estimate.
FAU constructed a LEED Gold 30,000 seat football stadium on its Boca Raton campus. Working with Schenkel Shultz/HKS Architects, Miller Legg provided civil engineering, surveying, environmental, and irrigation design. The project included the design and permitting for various master utility systems for the site such as water distribution, fire protection system, sanitary sewer collection, and stormwater collection. In addition, the design incorporated a 5,000 SF commissary building, access roads, bus parking, and VIP drop-off area to accommodate the stadium events. Working with Balfour Beatty / Cummings Construction, Miller Legg provided construction administration services to help accommodate a very aggressive construction schedule.
Survey & Environmental
To accommodate the FAU Stadium design efforts, Miller Legg provided environmental and survey services which included topographic survey, gopher tortoise and burrowing owl assessments, permitting and relocation.
