Wenzhou Eco-Park

This project involved preparation of a master plan and environmental analysis for an approximately 40-square mile region of the city ofWenzhou, China. The city is located on the southeast coast of China, with a regional population of approximately 7,000,000 people. The government sponsored the design team to prepare a study to determine opportunities for creating a diversified recreational and redevelopment master plan to stimulate economic development, on a mountainous region in the center of the city.
The site included a 36-square mile mountain range where natural resources, such as lakes and waterfalls, co-existed with ancient Buddhist temples and villages. The goal was to create a new tourism program in the region utilizing these ancient sites and natural features.
Additionally, the project involved an urban design master plan to provide a framework for redevelopment of a foursquare mile wetland and agricultural region into a cohesive future development plan. This plan included new residential, commercial and recreational projects.
