Mitigation & Permitting
Gateway Activity Center Mitigation Plan
Altamonte Springs, Florida
Located on a six-acre multi-use development, the innovative wetland restoration developed by Miller Legg includes the removal of logging tram roads that impair the free movement of surface and ground water within a degraded wetland system.
Services provided included permitting and developing a comprehensive environmental mitigation plan for the project in which impacts to 20 acres of on-site wetlands will be offset by the restoration of approximately 400 acres of degraded wetlands within the Lower Wekiva River State Preserve in Lake County, and preservation of 250 acres of forested wetlands adjacent to the Wekiva River in Seminole County.
The project also involved extensive coordination with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the St. Johns River Water Management District, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Audobon Society, and Friends of the Wekiva River.
