Recreational
Jessica Clinton Park
Port St. Lucie, Florida
This 20-acre community park combines elements of both
active and passive parks. The active amenities of the park
provide several recreational opportunities that include two
lighted baseball fields, a soccer/multi-use field, basketball
courts and tennis courts. The passive features of the park
include a picnic area, playground and a fitness trail through
the preserved upland habitat located along the perimeter of
the project site.
The park was named in memory of a local cheerleader from
the community. One area of the park includes a memorial
garden in which patrons can purchase bricks in remembrance
of loved ones.
At the entrance to the park, an entry sign wall was designed
to clearly establish the park's identity. To further meet the
needs of the park, a maintenance building and public
restrooms were also included in the design.
The success of this park project required the seamless
integration of a design/build team led by The Collage
Companies. Miller Legg, through efficient cross-office
coordination, provided engineering, landscape architecture,
planning and environmental services. In addition, Miller Legg
prepared the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
and processed the Notice of Intent (NOI) for National
Pollution Discharge Elimination Standards (NPDES) permitting.
This project was designed and constructed using the
design/build process.
