Paloma Residential Community
Palm Beach County, Florida
This project is a 156-acre residential community located in
Palm Beach County, Florida. Environmental services provided
by Miller Legg include the following:
- Environmental resource permitting
- Mitigation analysis
- Environmental assessments
- Wildlife surveys
- Gopher tortoise relocation and permitting
- Coordination with local, State and Federal agencies
Due to impacts to on-site wildlife, permitting and relocation
of gopher tortoises was required by the Florida Fish &
Wildlife Commission (FFWC).
During the permitting process, the US Fish & Wildlife Service
(USFWS) expressed a last-minute concern about impacts to
the red-cockaded woodpecker. Miller Legg's original gopher
tortoise surveys encompassed cursory assessment of additional
species, including the red-cockaded woodpecker, additional
field work was not necessary to address the additional USFWS
concerns.
