Sarasota Area National Cemetery
Sarasota, Florida
With nearly one fifth of the Florida's 1.9 million militaryservice
veterans living within 75 miles of Sarasota, the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has designated a 300-acre
site, comprised primarily of agricultural lands, to serve as the
Sarasota Area National Cemetery.
Miller Legg will provide the necessary services for master
planning and design development for this new National
Cemetery. The firm will prepare all design documentation
including master plans, schematic documents, design
development documents, and permitting services.
The preparation of design documentation for the Phase 1
build-out will cover approximately 100 acres of the site.
Design elements will include the following:
- environmental mitigation
- main entrance area
- assembly area
- public information center
- committal service shelters
- full-casket gravesites containing pre-placed crypts
- columbarium
- cremains sites
- roadways
- irrigation
- utilities
- landscaping
- administration building
- maintenance building
- signage
