Hollywood Young Circle Alternative Design Analysis

Miller Legg performed analyses of the existing traffic circle and a proposed realignment for the City of Hollywood in collaboration with the Downtown Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency. This Hollywood landmark has been noted for weave / merge conflicts and a high rate of accidents.
This project required extensive traffic data collection including an "origin/destination" survey and lane utilization analysis. Synchro and SimTraffic software simulated individual vehicles traveling through the circle. These models compared the performance of alternative designs based on peak hour delay, travel speed, and queue lengths at intersections around the circle.
