Broward County Safety Complex wins ASCE Florida Section Broward Branch 2023 Project of the Year Award

Congratulations to the entire Broward County Sheriff’s Office Training Center and Parking Garage Design/Build Team on winning the ASCE Florida Section Broward Branch 2023 Project of the Year Award! The new 90,000 SF 7-story structure is located within the 14- acre Broward County Public Safety Complex along West Broward Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale.

Facing geotechnical and flood plain site development constraints, the storm water management design involved intricate implementation of the R-Tank underground storage system to meet zero-discharge criteria for the project. The system is comprised of over 20,000 individual storage modules, covering a total footprint of over 4 acres, providing 140,000 cubic feet of storm water storage, helping to contribute to the project’s LEED Silver Certification.

The project required extensive planning to minimize impacts to existing utilities, trees, and most importantly, Broward County Safety Complex operations.
